Plugin instruments host external instruments. Synth instruments use internal synthesis engines.
Plugin instruments
Lodo can host VST and AU instrument plugins. Plugin instruments are sequenced from the pattern grid in the same way as internal instruments.
Plugin automation is applied to the plugin output stream. If two adjacent tracks on the same row sequence the same plugin parameter, the value from the later track in playback order is the value that remains applied to the shared plugin state.
Synth instruments
Lodo includes two internal synth instruments based on the open-source Mutable Instruments Braids and Plaits engines by Emilie Gillet.
These engines cover percussive models, physical modelling, common oscillator models, noise sources, and other synthesis modes.
The same source ports are also used for separate polyphonic VST plugins. Attribution and source-code links should be included with the plugin downloads.
